Sometime in the Spring of 1999, a group of Filipinos playing at the North Laguna Creek Park (Jacinto and Center Parkway) basketball court decided to organize a league. On October 1999, through the leadership of Rolando ǃ?Butchǃ? Villarama and Leo ǃ?Junǃ? Anselmo, the first Fil-Am Athletic Association of Elk Grove (FAAA-EG) Basketball League became a reality. Some of the pioneer coaches, team captains and managers were Butch Villarama, Jun Anselmo, Rick Pasalo, Gilbert Japlit, and Chris Figuerres. These people are still active in the same capacities within the current organization - Sacramento, CA.
