Cebu Basketball, A Philippine basketball power on the rise! Media coverage of Cebu basketball is limited and wanting. While newspapers provide accounts through news articles and a few features, and cable television has started to cover local basketball events in Cebu, much needs to be done.
Inspired by the concept of a local magazine and a national website dedicated to the sport of basketball, a number of University of San Carlos students and an alumni floated the idea. And thus, was born Basketballcebu.com.

Sometime in the Spring of 1999, a group of Filipinos playing at the North Laguna Creek Park (Jacinto and Center Parkway) basketball court decided to organize a league. On October 1999, through the leadership of Rolando √·∆Ì¿ÙButch√·∆Ì¿Ú Villarama and Leo √·∆Ì¿ÙJun√·∆Ì¿Ú Anselmo, the first Fil-Am Athletic Association of Elk Grove (FAAA-EG) Basketball League became a reality. Some of the pioneer coaches, team captains and managers were Butch Villarama, Jun Anselmo, Rick Pasalo, Gilbert Japlit, and Chris Figuerres. These people are still active in the same capacities within the current organization - Sacramento, CA.
