- Araw ng Dabaw
It is not for their lack of sense of history that the modern Dabawenyo of today remembers their city more for its economic strides than its past. Dabawenyos feel proud about the rich customs and traditions of the early settlers and tribal natives of the late 1800s or the early 1900s. But if a short time frame limits their sense of history, this is because the true Dabawenyo identity is young, a modern mix of early Christian pioneers from Luzon and the Visayas, and the tribal natives.

- Sinulog Festival
Sinulog is a dance ritual in honor of the miraculous image of the Santo Ni?±o. The dance moves two steps forward and one step backward to the sound of the drums. This resembles the current (Sulog) of what was then known as Cebu's Pahina River. Thus, in Cebuano, they say it's Sinulog.
