Organized by a group of Plant Pathologists at UPLB College of Agriculture on May 11, 1963. The Society aims to (1) encourage and promote the development of knowledge of disease management scientifically, (2) develop integrated pest and disease management based on sound and ecological precepts, (3) encourage the interchange of information, knowledge, and ideas among members, farmers, and other interested individuals, and (4) develop an effective working relation between persons professionally engaged in plant pathology and coordinate various interests and services germaine to the Society - University of the Philippines –

- STAC Japan
Science and Technology Advisory Council Japan chapter was formed by the alliance of engineers and scientists on December 3, 1995 in Tokyo, Japan. STAC-Japan was born in response to Executive Order No. 239 which reorganized the Department of Foreign Affairs in July 1987 mandating the Secretary of Foreign Affairs the authority to create advisory boards and committees as he may deem necessary to assist and provide him advice in the formulation of substantive policies.
Its current membership includes students, professionals, and other Filipino individuals staying in Japan who are interested and willing in advancing Science and Technology and advocating it as an inevitable tool for Philippine development.
