- Blessed Pedro Calungsod
Pedro Calungsod, a 17 year old Filipino Visayan martyred in Guam in 1672, together with the Spanish Jesuit priest now Blesse Diego Luis de San Vitores. Blessed Pedro, a native of Cebu, Philippines and a lay Chatechist, left for Guam in 1668 with Spanish Jesuit missionaries at the tender age of 13 to evangelize the native Chamorros.

Dodong Pedro (as we fondly refer to this martyr in Cebu) was a young man, a Bisayang Dako (and a Filipino, of course), an OFW, a catechist, and a missionary. His short, but meaningful, life has something to say to us, contemporary Filipinos. Our motto, therefore, is "to tell the world of God's love with Beato Pedro" As the ancient network of Roman highways facilitated the missionary work of a St. Paul, so the information highway offers today's Christians opportunities and challenges to reach out to the whole world - Mabolo, Cebu City.

Pedro Calungsod was a teenage
native of the Visayas region of the Philippines who went to the Marianas probably at the age of 13 in 1668 on a religious mission and died a martyr of the Church at the age of 17.
