The province of the Holy Rosary of the Dominican Order was founded for the evangelization of "the Kingdoms of the East." The first Dominican missionaries arrived in the Philippines in 1587 and, in rapid succession they began their ministry in the Philippines, which would last four centuries, in Manila, Bataan, Pangasinan the Cagayan Valley and the Batanes-Babuyanes archipelago.
