Our work started in the Philippines in the year 2000, through Gawad Kalinga (GK) --- translated in English means ǃ˙to give careǃ˘ --- and initiatives are now underway in India, Cambodia, Indonesia, and other third world countries.

Gawad Kalusugan- the Health Program of Gawad Kalinga- is a response to the challenges of the Philippine health situation. GKal is anchored on the principles of Primary Health Care as espoused in the Declaration of Alma-Ata. The impetus for its immediate implementation is provided for as well by the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals.

Gawad Kalinga is a Christian based organization founded by the Couples for Christ which helps the very poor in the Philippines and other countries by providing sturdy housing, child education, livelihood programs and essential values formation.
