HAIPN is a pioneer in Practical Nursing education in the Philippines. Founded in 2002, HAIPN offers a one-year Practical Nursing course and then assists its students with placement in hospitals and other health care facilities overseas particularly in North America. HAIPN seeks to address the demand for nursing education given the increasing need for nurses abroad, with a curriculum patterned after Northern American Practical Nursing program specifically to ensure that is students are equipped to pass the necessary exams for placement in health care facilities in the United States - Malate, Manila and Baguio City.

The College of Nursing, after complying 100% with the requirements of the Commission on Higher Education Department (CHED) and the Board of Nursing, was granted the government permit (CHED-NCR No. C-071 Series 2004) on March 15, 2004. In July 2004, MIT offered its first academic baccalaureate program in nursing for high school graduates - Gil Puyat Ave., Makati City.

On March 8, 2003 , the San Beda College Board of Trustees approved the opening of the College of Nursing in consortium with Loyola Medical College Foundation. The opening of the College was a sequel to the opening of the College of Medicine a year before. The College started in AY 2003-2004. with 472 students in the first semester and 441 students in the second semester. The following academic year 2004-2005, the enrollment increased to 744 and 699 in the first and second semesters, respectively. . Fifty-nine Bedan nursing graduates took the licensure examination on June 4 and 5, 2005. Fourty-six Bedan nursing students successfully passed the examination, registering a high 78% passing mark.
