The accused father and son golfing buddies were on nationwide radio and TV today to profess their innocence and claiming self defense with the ‘honorable’ 27-year-old mayor of a little known town in Lanao accusing a junior golfer 13 years his junior of having wielded an angry fist first as the young man’s 56-year-ild father peppered him with invectives and the man’s daughter poking him with an umbrella.

I can’t even begin to imagine what that must feel like, seeing your father and brother beaten in front of your eyes, and people around you don’t do anything because they’re “powerful”. It’s infuriating. Heartbreaking. Times like these I wish superheroes were real.

Valley Golf is situated about 45 minutes from Makati. It is a short drive thru Ortigas Avenue or the scenic Sumulong Highway. Its South Course, a par-72 championship layout, sits on 90 hectares of rolling hills and meandering brooks. It played host to the famed Philippine Open in 1975, 1983 and 1991 and the XVI Southeast Asian Games Golf in 1991.
