- Farmers join quit call for DAR chief
From the Inquirer. Farmers fighting for a piece of land in a sprawling hacienda in Laguna will have a crash course on using the Internet Thursday at the launch of an online campaign for the resignation of Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman Sr. and a revamp in the department's bureaucracy.
The online campaign was inspired partly by the tempest stirred by the blog of Maria Dhel "Bambee" de la Paz, who wrote an account of how Pangandaman's sons beat up her father and teenage brother following an argument involving courtesy on a golf course, June Rodriguez, executive director of the Peace Foundation, said.

They are the places where the hoi polloi are kept out and where everyone else can see and be seen. When someone like Bambee dela Paz and her family collide with official thugs, the collision isn’t just physical, it’s cultural. The set of rules that keeps the plebs in their place is never supposed to intrude into places where gentility matters.

She was witness to her father and 14 year old brother allegedly getting beat up by Mayor Nasser Pangandaman Jr and his associates over teeing rights. Comennetary by Bong Austero from Manila Standard Today. I didn’t write about that infamous display of arrogance and brute power at a golf course that happened during the Christmas break because I have this thing against kicking a man when he is down. Fellow bloggers have already riled about it anyway and mainstream media have already picked it up. Jojo Robles has written about the incident in his column in this paper as well.
But a news story published in the Inquirer last Saturday raised my hackles. In that story, Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman appealed to the public, specifically to bloggers, to stop vilifying his family. The news report quoted the secretary as saying “We’re being condemned left and right. It’s very painful for us. We’re very much affected by this.”

The world has gone crazy. Two politicians beat up a defenseless 56-year-old father and his 14-year-old son. At a golf course. I swear to God, I thought golfers were decent people. You would think politicians were decent people. I guess not. I guess they gang up on 56-year-old men and beat up pleading 14-year-old kids.
I don’t have a father anymore and my son would have been around the age of the 14 year old boy so my heart just went out to both father and son as Bambee describes how they were beaten up.

rdinarily I wouldn't cover a story like this on such a happy day but the following story got me so upset.
At around 1:30 PM today, at Valley Golf and Country Club, Antipolo City, Mayor Nasser Pangandaman, Jr., Mayor of Masiu City, Lanao del Sur, his father, Secretary Nasser Pangandaman of the Department of Agrarian Reform, and company, beat my defenseless 56-year-old dad and my 14-year-old brother to a pulp because of some stupid misunderstanding on the golf course.

- NBI looking into Valley Golf brawl
From Manila Standard Today. Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation to look into the mauling incident involving Agrarian Secretary Nasser Pangandaman and his son Nasser Jr., mayor of Masiu town in Lanao del Sur.
NBI Director Nestor Mantaring said the directive was to complete the investigation as soon as possible of the Dec. 26 incident at the Valley Golf and Country Club in Antipolo City.

The now infamous incident involving Department of Agrarian Reforms Secretary Nasser Pangandaman, his namesake, Nasser, Jr. , mayor of Masui, Lanao Del sur, and their friends and bodyguards who beat up two persons, Delfin De La Paz and his 14-year old son Bino, has spread all over the internet. Her family’s tragedy happened on a golf course and for many of us their experience must be surreal, and none of us can imagine how her world has been turned upside down. Innocence lost.

From GMA News. An online petition is now in the works to demand the ouster of Agrarian Reform secretary Nasser Pangandaman and his son, Maslu, Lanao del Sur mayor Nasser Jr, for the scandal at a golf course in Pasig City last December.
The Ang Kapatiran National Party said in its website that as of Sunday, it had gathered at least 437 signatures seeking the resignation of the Pangandamans.

From abs-cbn News. The family of golfer Delfin dela Paz filed Monday child abuse charges against the sons of Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman over a brawl at the Valley Golf and Country in Antipolo last December 26.
Lawyer Raymond Fortun, the dela Paz family's attorney, said Masiu, Lanao del Sur Mayor Nasser Pangandaman Jr., his brother, Hussein, are facing two counts of slight physical injuries and two counts of child abuse for mauling dela Paz and his 14-year-old son, Bino, over a golf course altercation.
Three of the Pangandamans' bodyguards were charged with one count of slight physical injury. The criminal complaints were filed before the Antipolo City prosecutor's office.

From the Inquirer. Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman said Tuesday was not going to resign from his Cabinet post over the involvement of some members of his family in a recent brawl at a golf course.
In a phone interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Pangandaman said also that Malacañang has not ordered a probe into the December 26 beating incident inside the Valley Golf and Country Club in Antipolo.

Hussein and Nasser Pangandaman Jr., the mayor of Masiu, Lanao del Sur, appeared at the Antipolo Prosecutors’ Office, accompanied by their two lawyers, to file the counter-charges, hours after Delfin Dela Paz and his 14-year-old son Bino filed separate charges of physical injuries against the Pangandamans and their companions.
