This is a chronicle of Marissa and her family's exodus from the Philippines to the United States and their struggle to fit into the community. It is the story of her arranged marriage at the age of eighteen after only one date with Leo, the man who was chosen to be her husband. It is an account of how Marissa and Leo managed to stay married for twenty-three years, even during the times when the marriage was more hell than heaven.
