The Intramuros Administration was created under P.D 1616 on April 10, 1979, amended by P.D. 1748 dated 10 December 1980.
The administration shall be responsible for the orderly restoration and development of Intramuros as a monument to the Hispanic period of Philippine history. As such, it shall ensure that the general appearance of Intramuros shall conform to Philippine-Spanish architecture of the sixteenth to the nineteenth century - Palacio del Gobernador, cor Gen Luna and Gen Aduana Streets,
