- Filipino Texans
Most of the Filipinos in Texas are comparatively recent arrivals. Strong economic and political ties with the Spanish empire from the 16th to the 19th centuries brought few known individuals to the Americas, but United States control in the early 20th century was responsible for Filipino settlement in every metropolitan area in the state. - I Am Today's Filipino
I Am Today's Filipino documents the many stories of present-day Filipinos, one-hundred years after the first significant wave of Filipino migration to the U.S. This exhibit provides an intimate glimpse into the individual lives and experiences that reflect the collective story of the Filipino community in 2006. It preserves a moment in the current history of Filipinos in America and encourages a greater awareness of the many contributions that Filipinos have made and continue to make to the U.S. Through the artistic display of photos and video, this original exhibit celebrates the diversity of the Filipino community while recognizing the rich cultural heritage and traditions shared among all Filipinos. This is an official project of the Los Angeles/Southern California Filipino American Centennial Planning Committee in partnership with the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Program.

- Philippine-American Pioneers of the Imperial Valley
Why they came, why they stayed and what they gave in the Imperial Valley in California. The first Filipino immigrants in the Imperial Valley were lured by the success of a few Filipinos who had achieved financial security and education provided by the United States government. However, most of these young men came in search of work, not education. Known as the "Pinoys," they served as migrant agricultural laborers - from the Pioneers Museum and Cultural Center of Imperial, CA.

- SOMCAN
South of Market Community Action Network was founded in 2001 by a group of grassroots organizations committed to serving the needs of youth, seniors, veterans, the Filipino community, low-income residents, and the homeless in the South of Market neighborhood. Initially we came together informally in response to the unprecedented and unrestricted level of gentrification and displacement that we were seeing in our community, which included individual residents, small businesses, and non-profit organizations. Our goal was to support community members in immediate threat of eviction in the form of offering space for meetings, assisting with needed resources, and providing a collective voice. We found that this form of community organizing was very successful at leveraging the power needed for residents to be heard and achieve their goals - Mission St., San Francisco, CA.
