CIM opened its doors to 47 first year medical students on June 10, 1957. With the five-year curriculum , 33 graduates stepped out ofthe school in 1962. On November 13, 1980, the CIT COM-CIM Alumni Association's legal personality became official when it saw its way into the Security & Exchange Commission (SEC), registered as Cebu Institute of Medicine Alumni Association, Inc. (CIMAAI).

- University of the Philippines Medical Alumni Society in America
In 1980, a group of medical alumni from the University of the Philippines residing in the United States of America gathered together and voted to form a counterpart of the UPMAS (University of the Philippines Medical Alumni Society) abroad and called it UPMASA. Its mission was to provide continuing support to the UP College of Medicine and its affiliate, the Philippine General Hospital in its quest for academic and scientific excellence and in its goal to elevate the standards of medical education in the Philippines and standard of health care for the Filipino patient - Fayetteville, New York.
