  • Lazi, Siquijor
    Orliginally, this municipality was known as Tigbawan, a name derived from a type of plant that grew in the bay. This name was changed when the Spaniards established a parish there in the middle of the 19th century. Th St. Isidore Parish Church was completed in 1884, and the Convent, said to be one of the largest in the Philippines, was finished in 1891. Both of these are still intact and are attractions to tourists. They were recently declared national historical landmarks. The Lazi wharf is visited by boats from Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Northern Mindanao. Copra, peanuts, tobacco, livestock, maguey and kapok are exported from the island through this port.

    The Municipality of Daraga is destined to occupy prominent role in the development of Albay Province and in the entire Bicol Region.   • Municipal Government of Tiwi
    Tiwi, the Philippines' richest source of geothermal energy, began as a barrio of Malinao before it was formally organized as a politically independent pueblo in 1696. In the extant records of the municipality, the first chief executive of the municipal government was Don Lorenzo Mancilla installed in 1776. The present municipal building was built during the incumbency of Mayor Maximino Cruel in 1919. It was renovated during the term of Mayor Naomi Corral in 1990. Currently, the municipal government of Tiwi is administered by Hon. Mayor Patria C. Gutierrez. Her stint in the UN as chairperson of International Union of Local Authorities (IULA) Task Force for Women in Local Governance, has gained for Tiwi a remarkable distinction in the area of women empowerment.
