- PEFTOK: The Philippines in the Korean War (1950-1955)
Five Battalion Combat Teams (BCTs) from the Philippines fought in the Korean War as the Philippine Expeditionary Force to Korea or PEFTOK. Totaling more than 7,000 men, these Philippine Army BCTs fought Chinese Communists and North Koreans from 1950 to 1955. More than 400 Filipinos became casualties during the Korean War, which the Philippines joined despite a serious Communist-led rebellion.
