- The UP Centennial
Since its establishment on June 18, 1908, the University of the Philippines (UP) has maintained its place as the country’s national and premier institution of higher learning. It has produced leaders in both government and industry, trailblazers in the arts and humanities, and innovators in science and engineering.
As the University’s first 100 years comes to a close and its next century begins, join the UP community, along with its alumni both here and abroad, to celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime occasion.
The celebration of the UP Centennial has officially begun on July 18, 2007 and will last through the December 31, 2008, with the whole of 2008 having been declared the UP Centennial Year by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo through Proclamation No. 913.

UP Mindanao is the sixth and newest autonomous unit of the University of the Philippines System. Established on 20 February 1995 through Republic Act 7889, its mission is to bring to the people of Mindanao the UP standard of academic excellence and commitment to academic freedom, social responsibility and nationalism. Subsequently, the Board of Trustees of the U.P. System formally created U.P. Mindanao on 23 March 1995 - Davao City.

One of the six autonomous universities under the University of the Philippines System. Most of the 12 units that now compose UP Manila, started as independent units decades ago. In 1977, these units were grouped together with the establishment of the Health Sciences Center. In 1979, the Center was elevated to the status of an autonomous university and was renamed University of the Philippines Manila in 1983.
