The Colegio de Santa Isabel was founded on October 24, 1632 with the primary purpose of educating Spanish orphans, daughters of the Spanish soldiers in the service of the King. But in the later years its doors were opened to Filipino girls as well. In 1733, by a royal decree of Queen Isabela II, the name of the college was changed to “Real Colegio de Santa Isabel." Santa Isabel is an archdiocesan school administered by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul - Taft Ave., Manila.

St. Jude College, a non sectarian institution was established in honor of St. Jude Thaddeus, the Apostle and Patron Saint of the Hopeful and the embodiment of the true Christian spirit. Through its allied health services, it started as a School of Nursing and St. Jude Maternity Clinic in 1950. Face with the growing health needs of the community and the breakthroughs and advances in allied medical sciences, the founders, Dr. Ramon D. Atienza, Jr.and wife, Dr. Felicidad Calip-Atienza, Expanded the Maternity Clinic from a two-storey building to a five-storey building with a 120-bed capacity - Sampaloc, Manila.
