Alarmed by the prevalence of numerous forgeries of the artist's works, the children initially sought to form a body that would uphold the integrity of the Amorsolo name by primarily cataloguing ad authenticating the artist's works - Quezon City.

Sylvia Amorsolo-Lazo, the artist's daughter, learned to paint from her father, Fernando Amorsolo y Cueto. She was his assistant for twenty-five years, and is one of the primary experts on his paintings -- their subjects and authenticity.
