The members of 8th wonder express their experiences and perspectives through spoken word poetry, sharing their words at high schools, college campuses, and various community functions.

Kay Barrett's voice comes from a unique Mestiza identity which is, as she says in her own words, a "Filipina-Irish Amerikan, queer, student ever-learning." Her performance poetry is strong on humanity by her upbringing, but is also strongly political by practical and social necessity. Kay Barrett ne of the most involved people in Chicago's spoken word & activist community, working to utilize artistic expression as a means to manifest social justice and community. Rich Kiamco won the Overall Excellence Award for Solo Performance at the New York International Fringe Festival for UNACCESSORIZED, his solo show. He was a featured expert on "Queer Eye For the Straight Guy," and has performed with comedian Judy Tenuta in Las Vegas, on The Howard Stern Show, and nationwide as her love slave/sidekick. Rich has also performed and facilitated workshops with Peeling, a NYC based Asian American performance collective. His writing can be found in "TAKE OUT: Queer Writing From Asian Pacific America" and "Queer Stories For Boys."
