Things self is really, really proud about:
Her first collection of short fiction, Ginseng and Other Tales from Manila (Calyx Books 1991) was simultaneously published in Manila and was short-listed for the Philippines’ National Book Award.
Her story, “Silence,” first published in the Threepenny Review, was short-listed for the 2000 O. Henry Literature Prize.
She co-edited, with poet Virginia Cerenio, an anthology of Filipina women’s writings, Going Home to a Landscape (Calyx Books, 2003), which gathered together the writings of Filipina women from around the world.
Her latest book is Mayor of the Roses: Stories (Miami University Press, 2005). The photo on the cover shows nearly all her Bacolod relatives, gathered at the funeral of self’s grandfather, a former Mayor of Bacolod.
Last year, Frederick Barthelme picked self’s story “The Hand” as the winner of the Juked magazine Fiction Contest.
She is still writing, even after xxxxx number of rejections.
Born and raised in Manila, she now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The pseudonym of Edna Weisser who returned to writing when she looked for the meaning and sense of life and could not find the answers in factory outlets and at Ikea. Most of the time, she feels 'caught between the moon and New York City' to describe the weekdays of technical writing versus the weekends of creative writing. Born, raised, and educated in the Philippines, Edna lived in the United States before settling down in the vineyard region of Germany.

An Ilokano writer's abode. From the website: In this website, I'll feature some of my poetry and fiction in original Iluko and in Filipino (Tagalog). As an Ilokano, I write/compose mostly in Iluko (as I think/ponder/dream and speak absolutely in Iluko), the language of the Ilokano people.
