- Asian Farmers' Association for Sustainable Rural Development
The Asian Farmers?¢Ç«®Ç—¢ Association for Sustainable Rural Development (AFA) is a regional alliance of peasant federations and organizations in twelve Asian countries established in May 2002. The formation of AFA was a fruit of five Farmers?¢Ç«®Ç—¢ Exchange Visits (FEVs) held in South Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan and Malaysia in a span of three years. During these FEVs, leaders of various Asian farmers?¢Ç«®Ç—¢ organizations analyzed their agrarian and agriculture situation amidst globalization and trade liberalization. In the process, they realized the need to work together to promote an Asian Peasant Agenda that will ensure the protection of the rights and well-being of farmers and their agricultural communities - Loyola Heights, Quezon City.
