The National Statistics Office of the Philippines has released the results of the 2000 census. Its breakdown includes the new province of Compostela Valley, formed in 1998, but not Zamboanga-Sibugay, which was created in 2001. This is the list of provinces derived from the census - from Gwillim Law, author of Administrative Subdivisions of Countries (McFarland & Company, Jefferson, NC, 1999): a comprehensive world-wide reference for states and provinces, with histories since 1900.
