  • Official Website of Initao
Initao is the oldest municipality in the western part of Misamis Oriental. It is the mother town of the municipalities of Libertad, Naawan, Manticao and Lugait. There was no data nor historical record as to its creation but it functioned date back during the Spanish regime. Based on the book ǃ?Symbols of the Stateǃ? published by the Bureau of Local Government of the Department of Local Government and Community Development, the province of Misamis Oriental was created by virtue of Act 2711 dated March 10, 1917. The municipality of Initao was one of the municipalities under its political and administrative jurisdiction. Thus, the date of official recognition of this municipality is the same date when the province of Misamis Oriental was officially created. Another is that Initao has a record as to its population in 1903 as published by the National Statistics Office.
