... So obviously abundant. Manolo Fortich is named after Don Manolo Fortich, a prominent resident of barrio Dalirig being the first Governor (1902-1914) of the District of Bukidnon. The original name of the municipality was Maluko (from April 4, 1917 to June 20, 1957) where the first seat of the municipal government was established.

- Municipality of Baungon
During the 18th century and the early part of the 19th century, the place was inhabited by the natives called Higaonons. It has been known that the ancestral Daty Amay Tomas Lilangan, was identified as the first family of this place. As the years rolled-on, another family arose, known as the descendants of Amay Ombadv (Oblad). The natives had inter-marriage through its tribal policies, although their laws and rules were unwritten.
