Bulakan is a 2nd class urban municipality in the province of Bulacan, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 62,903 people in 13,577 households.
Bulacan is the birthplace of Marcelo H. del Pilar, a Filipino nationalist who published the Filipino propaganda paper La Solidaridad. Located on the northern part of the Province of Bulacan, the Municipality of San Rafael is home to approximately 74,000 peace-loving citizens. Its 16,525 hectare land area, which consists of flatlands on its southern part and gently sloping on its northern part, is mostly being cultivated for rice, corn and vegetable production. Major businesses and industries are located along Cagayan Valley Road, the busiest road network in the municipality where produce from the northern provinces such as Nueva ecija, Nueva Viscaya, Isabela and Cagayan pass through to the markets and Metro Manila.
