Aurora lies on the mid-eastern coast of Luzon. It is geographically located between east longitude 121 31’2” and 122 01’30” and north latitude 15’ 61’ 43” and 16’ 31’ 00”. Political boundaries include the province of Isabela in the North, Quirino, Nueva Viscaya in the northwest and Quezon in the south.
What is now Aurora Province was formerly the two municipalities of Baler and Casiguran, then a part of Quezon (formerly Tayabas).
Founded in 1856 by the Spaniards, then called District of El Principe, Nueva Ecija.
Created a sub-province on June 14, 1951 by R.A. 648 and became independent and 73rd Province on August 13, 1979 by virtue of B. P. No. 7.
