  • Local Government Unit of Aurora
Aurora, as the name implies is the dawn of a new day--a new hope--a beginning of a bright day. The name Aurora is appropriate for its strategic location as the first municipality in the Mallig Plains when one comes from the southern direction. It is therefore the "Gateway to the Mallig Plains." This town is also known as the "fruit and vegetable basket" or the "Salad Bowl of Isabela" as its vast productive agricultural lands yield bountiful fruits and vegetables for the whole province.

Two decades later, on November 30, 1646, P. de Sto Tomas founded the town of Cabagan (now San Pablo). The evangelization made by the missionaries facilitated the creation of the Province of Isabela. By virtue of a Royal Decree of Spain which was made effective on May 1, 1856, Cabagan and Tumauini were separated from Cagayan and integrated with other towns to from the Province of Isabela.
