  • Local Government Unit of Piat
Just like most of the municipalities of the country, Piat was created into a municipality during the Spanish Regime. The Spanish missionaries upon reaching the place tried to visit all barangays which were occupied by natives whose dwellings were found sporadically along the Chico River. Their first intention was to map out a suitable plan for the poblacion. At first, they selected Dugayung which seem to be an ideal site for the poblacion. They planted a big cross as the corner stone and begun to observe. Unluckily, the first bird that perched on the cross was a crow and since the crow is black, it was believed to be a bad omen. Black indicated sorrow. So they decided to survey for another place which is more centrally located among the barangays and in a high place to avoid flood.

  • Local Government Unit of Rizal
The isolated town is a mere remnant of the great many villages that were built by early dwellers on top of a ridge, which look down on a heavily wooded area. The ruins of churches, surface wells and crumbling Spanish villas bear witness to the fact that it was once a flourishing town in the colonial days. Athough this town is sleepy, it is a picture of external peace beneath the sun.
