- Municipality of Luna
The municipality of Luna was part of the defunct town, Mountain Province. The town was formerly called Macatel, meaning ǃ˙Itchy Waterǃ˘ in the Ibanag language. This name was given by the Ibanag fisherman from Abulog, Cagayan. The municipality is characterized by mixed topography of level area, valleys, scattered low hills and mountainous area, gently sloping and rolling to strongly sloping levels - Luna, Apayao.
