  • Municipality of Barcelona
Since 1866, when our town became a Pueblo Civil and subsequently thereafter, as a municipality of the Province of Sorsogon in the Bicol Region, we have relentlessly struggled to develop our municipality despite our meager resources. Our poblacion area is the hub of activities in paying homage to our patron Saint, Saint Joseph the Worker. It is where the 'the modern times and the living past' meet; as the British-built, solar-powered, computerized lighthouse was erected at the nucleus of the three (3) century-old edifices; the architecturally-beautiful Coral-Stone Parish Church which serves up to now as the hallowed place for worship of the Barcelonians, the "Presidencia" Building, and the Coral Stone School Building. These structure serves as the tourist attractions of the town, a memento of Spanish legacy.

  • Municipality of Donsol
Escaping from the destructive fury of the Mayon volcano back in the eighteenth century, a band of refugees led by a certain Francisco Noradi came to settle in what is now known as Dancalan. The place was originally called Donsolan, coined from the Bicol term for √¢Ç«®≈Ïanvil√¢Ç«®¨?. Here lived a blacksmith whose anvil (donsolan) and expert skills gave prominence to the area. As his workshop grew popular so did the settlement, and eventually people came to know the whole place as Donsolan.
